Richard Sandling ha costruito un video alternativo per la canzone di Rick Astley Never Gonna Give You Up (nota soprattutto per quella cosa che ha preso il nome di Rickrolling). Ha ritagliato tutte le parole che gli servivano, una per una, dalle battute di diverse puntate di Mad Men, e le ha rimesse insieme a formare il testo della canzone. (il post)

No more Saturday Night Fever

Dopo Donna Summer, ci lascia anche Robin Gibb, un altro protagonista dell’epopea Disco degli anni 70. 
In questo caso, però, parlare solo di Disco Music è un po’  riduttivo trattandosi (assieme ai due fratelli Barry e Maurice) del fondatore deiBee Gees, una delle formazioni più influenti dell’intera storia della musica pop, cha ha radici nei lontani anni 60 a Sydney e che ha sviluppato una sonorità basata principalmente sulle voci dei tre fratelli, in grado di creare armonie magnifiche, oltre che di godere di timbriche singolari nelle parti soliste. 
Stupenda e immortale la prima fase del loro successo con brani entrati nella storia del pop come Massachussets, Holiday, To Love Somebody, I’ve Got a Message to You e I Started a Joke e, ovviamente importantissima anche la svolta Disco degli anni 70, portata ai massimi vertici grazie alle musiche scritte per il film Saturday Night Fever. Pubblicata ieri su un celebre fansite di David Sylvian, Nothing Is Happening Everywhere è una canzone del duo londinese Land (Daniel Lea and Matthew Waters) tratta dall’album di prossima pubblicazione Night Within che uscirà il prossimo 10 luglio su Important Records in un un lussuoso gatefold CD e nella ormai ovvia edizione limitata in vinile (verde).
La canzone è davvero bella e sono certo che accontenterà sia gli affezionati alle storiche registrazioni del Sylvian più melodico sia coloro che preferiscono quelle più sperimentali della recente discografia.

Il Google doodle di oggi suona per Les Paul

Per celebrare il pioniere della chitarra elettrica e inventore Les Paul, a 96 anni dalla nascita, il google doodle di oggi è il primo, strepitoso, scarabocchio interattivo che si può suonare passando sopra il mouse (e le corde cambiano colore).... aspettiamo che google ci faccia anche il caffè ;)

ps nerd: il doodle è stato realizzato con un insieme di JavaScript, HTML5 Canvas, CSS, Flash, Google Font API, goo.gl e App Engine

Les Paul è il creatore della chitarra Gibson Les Paul usata dai chitarristi di band storiche (Led Zeppelin, The Who, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, Premiata Forneria Marconi, Kiss, Dire Straits, Frank Zappa... vedi il sito dedicato a questa chitarra). Intermezzo musicale: brit pop con Miles Kane

La recensione di Fard Rock di oggi è il primo album da solista di Miles Kane, Colour of The Trap, e se Joyello assegna un 9/10 come voto, definendolo "forse, è uno dei più grandi album di brit-pop di sempre", sicuramente vale l'ascolto... e con youtube la curiosità è subito soddisfatta:
